Krishna sits behind the counter of his small provision store within the premises of Shubhashray Rewari. He started his shop after retiring from active service from the Indian Army as a communications interceptor. During a career spanning 30 years, he was stationed and did active duty in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Kashmir, among other places. After retiring, Krishna bought a home in Shubhashray Homes, Rewari with his lifetime savings, and buoyed by the emerging vibrant community and the appreciating value of his home, he decided to buy and run a community shop. Named after the company, ‘Shubhashray Provision Store’ sells groceries and other provisions to over 50 families that reside in the colony, and brings Krishna over Rs 25,000 in monthly earnings. Krishna admits this is his second coming, a life that he plans to enjoy and cherish with his grandchildren.
